About the Healthcare Transparency Registry

About the Healthcare Transparency Registry
The Healthcare Transparency Registry Foundation administers a central register containing the data on certain financial relationships between healthcare professionals, healthcare organizations, patient organizations and companies. By publishing the accumulated data, the public gains an insight into the financial relationships that healthcare providers have with pharmaceutical companies, veterinary medicinal companies and companies active in the field of medical devices. The data remains published on the website of the Healthcare Transparency Register for three years.

Healthcare providers and companies together
The Foundation forms a collaboration between healthcare providers and companies. Together, these parties have agreed to make several types of  cooperation public. The exact rules concerning cooperation and financial relationships have been laid down in legislation and codes of conduct. Furthermore, healthcare providers and companies agree in their contracts who is responsible for publishing the financial relationships and how the relationships will be published.

Financial relationships in the Netherlands
The register publishes financial relationships that have been conducted in the Netherlands. Does the cooperation take place between a healthcare provider in the Netherlands and a company that is established abroad? In that case, the Dutch subsidiary of the company will normally report the financial relationships to the Register. However, it is possible for the parties to agree that the healthcare provider reports the relationship.
